What a health savings account is, and what we can and cannot do for you.
A health savings account is a specific account type defined by the US tax code. It carries tax advantages, and in exchange it comes with eligibility rules — you generally need to be covered by a qualifying high-deductible health plan — contribution limits, and reporting the custodian has to file.
We are not an HSA custodian. We cannot open a tax-advantaged health savings account for you, and any account you hold with us does not carry HSA tax treatment.
We are telling you this rather than letting the page imply otherwise, because getting this wrong has tax consequences that land on you, not on us.
If you want to set money aside for medical costs in an ordinary balance, separate from your day-to-day spending, you can do that here. It is simply your money, held separately, with no special tax status.
For a real HSA, go to a bank or custodian that offers one. A tax adviser can tell you whether you are eligible.
